MY TEEN IS A COMPLETE BEGINNER?

That's great! Most teens that start training at The Desert Dojo have never trained in Martial Arts before. We specialize in BEGINNERS!!!!

WILL MARTIAL ARTS MAKE MY TEEN AGGRESSIVE OR BECOME A BULLY?

No, in fact this type of training does exactly the opposite. It helps to get your frustrations out in a healthy and positive way.

A classes teaching respect, and when to use their new self defense training and when NOT to use it.  We find that our students become more confident to stand up to bullies.  And have more humility and kindness to others though their martial arts lessons.

Martial Artists tend to be the most calm, respectful and nicest people you will ever meet.

MY TEEN IS NOT VERY COORDINATED OR ATHLETIC. CAN THEY STILL LEARN MARTIAL ARTS?

No. In fact, most teens who start training at The Desert Dojo are out of shape…that's what we are here to do…HELP your child get in shape.

Martial Arts classes are the PERFECT activity for teens who are not good at sports.  Teen martial arts classes are an individual activity, done in a group. The journey from white belt to black belt is different for each student.  

But what is the same…. They improve co-ordination, balance, motor skills, focus and discipline.  Plus, they makes lots of great friends! Our Instructors are highly skilled in teaching martial arts for teens.

MY TEEN IS OVERWEIGHT AND REALLY SELF CONSCIOUS?

No worries. The Desert Dojo is a judgement free zone.

All the instructors are there to help your teen and encourage them to do their best.

Before you know it…they will be punching and kicking and looking good.

MY TEEN IS ADDICTED TO VIDEO GAMES. CAN MARTIAL ARTS HELP?

Martial Arts is probably the BEST activity for teens who sit a lot! Getting them active, without them realizing they are learning, is our skill.  Kicking and punching pads is such a great stress relief.

Parents find that once their teen start martial arts classes, they see a happier, more social persom develop right before their eyes.  You'll be glad they started training at The Desert Dojo.

CAN PARENTS WATCH CLASSES?

We find teens do better when their parents don't watch class allowing them to grow on their own without their parents watching them. But you can watch form your car.

On the other hand we find teens love training with their parents because you are equal in class. Your teen will love that you have something in common.  It will build a strong family bond!

IS MARTIAL ARTS DANGEROUS?

Martial Arts is safer than most other sports. However, as with any kind of exercise and in life, accidents can and do happen from time to time.

But, we do take precautions to make the training as safe as possible.

HOW MUCH ARE CLASSES?

Most teens train on average 2x's per week and tuition for 2 classes per week is $149 per month.

However, when you come in for your first free class we will cover all the tuition options available and help you find one that fits your needs and budget.

MY TEEN IS VERY MOODY?

This is common for teens BUT we understand it doesn't make it easier to live with them. Teens need to find something they can become passionate about and allows them to grow as a person without judgement form their parents.

Martial Arts allows them to train with other teens and adults where they learn about respect, discipline and hard work while developing a more positive attitude.

CAN MARTIAL ARTS HELP MY TEEN LOSE WEIGHT?

Yes. However, it is also very important to combine the physical training with a healthy diet and lifestyle choices…if you truly want them to lose weight and be healthy.

Here is the truth….if you do the training BUT you eat junk food all the time and drink sugary drinks all the time, then they will get very limited to NO results.

We are NOT saying they can't eat their favorite foods…all we are saying is they can't do it ALL the time or to excess.
