The Jiu-Jitsu Foundations program includes over 100 techniques that could literally save your life during a real street confrontation.

This innovative teaching method is an adaptation by the Valente brothers of Grand Master Helio Gracie’s private class curriculum to be used in a group setting. Originally, Grandmaster Helio’s Self Defense system was only taught through private lessons.

Most group Jiu-Jitsu classes are designed to prepare students for tournaments. At The Desert Dojo, our Jiu-Jitsu class allows students to learn Grand Master Helio’s system through group lessons.

I AM A COMPLETE BEGINNER?

That's great! Most people that start training at The Desert Dojo have never trained in Martial Arts before. We specialize in BEGINNERS!!!!

DO I NEED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE TO START TRAINING?

No. In fact, most people who start training at The Desert Dojo are out of shape…that's what we are here to do…HELP YOU get in shape and achieve your fitness goals.

The other great thing about The Desert Dojo is that you can train at your current level of fitness.

So if you are out of shape, you can start off slow then gradually increase the intensity of your training as you get in better shape…if you are already in shape, you can push yourself even harder.

By the way….Martial Arts is one of the best and most fun ways to get in shape.

I AM OVERWEIGHT AND REALLY SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT HOW I LOOK?

No worries. The Desert Dojo is a judgement free zone.

All the instructors are there to help you and encourage you to do your best.

Before you know it…you will be kicking butt and looking good.

I AM (30, 40, 50, 60, 70) YEARS OLD, IS THAT TOO OLD TO START TRAINING?

Age is a mindset. Anyone of any age can train at The Desert Dojo….but we do recognize that as you get older you can't do things exactly the same way or with the same intensity as someone who is younger. That's why we always tell students to train to their fitness or limitations level.

CAN I LOSE WEIGHT?

Yes. However, it is also very important to combine the physical training with a healthy diet and lifestyle choices…if you truly want to lose weight and be healthy.

Here is the truth….if you do the training BUT you eat junk food all the time, drink alcohol or sugary drinks all the time and/or smoke cigarettes like a chimney, then you will get very limited to NO results.

We are NOT saying you can't eat your favorite foods or have a drink or smoke a cigar once in a while…all we are saying is you can't do it ALL the time or to excess.

IS MARTIAL ARTS DANGEROUS?

Martial Arts is safer than most other sports. However, as with any kind of exercise and in life, accidents can and do happen from time to time.

But, we do take precautions to make the training as safe as possible.

WILL MARTIAL ARTS MAKE ME AGGRESSIVE OR VIOLENT?

No, in fact this type of training does exactly the opposite. It helps to get your frustrations out in a healthy and positive way.

Martial Artists tend to be the most calm, respectful and nicest people you will ever meet.

HOW MUCH ARE CLASSES?

Most students train on average 2x's per week and tuition for 2 classes per week is $149 per month. However, when you come in for your first free class we will cover all the tuition options available and help you find one that fits your needs and budget.
