Ups and Downs of Martial Arts Training!

Martial Arts is great training for life because it echoes what happens in life, which is why it is so good for people to do.

Martial Arts like life has ups and downs. It’s natural in an activity like martial arts where skill development is required.

When you first begin martial arts you don’t know anything, so you have no where to go but up. Everything you learn is new and exciting and making improvement is easy because you never trained before so any growth is noticeable.

However, after sometime growth starts to slows down and you feel like you are plateauing, not making any improvement. This is common!

Then what happens you start comparing yourself to others in class that you train with. You feel like they are making improvements and you are not.

However, what you forget is everyone is at a different stage of development in their training. Maybe they are on the upswing in their growth.

Then you feel like you are going backwards in your growth. You feel like everyone else is getting better and you are getting worse.

This is the time where people start to question themselves and their reason for training.

But then something magical happens (if you don’t quit) you jump up even further than you were when you started plateauing.

Your skills start to skyrocket.
